Fire & Smoke Damage

Picture of house being destroyed and damaged by a fire

In 2002 (the most recent available data), 53,589 fires were reported in Canada, resulting in approximately $1,489,012,263 in property damage (Council of Canadian Fire Marshals and Fire Commissioners annual report 2002).

Whether you are a homeowner or a commercial entity, a fire can be a devastating event. Fire can cause the loss of family treasures, your home, or your ability to do business. It can also take a tremendous emotional toll.

In May 2009, a fire started on the roof of the main building of the Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR), causing the destruction of the main wing’s belfry, as well as major fire damage to the roof and water damage to the floors below.

The affected wing housed procurement and printing services, the rector’s and vice-rector’s offices, student services, the students’ bookstore, finances and human resources, as well as classes and working spaces for graduate students.

FirstOnSite acted promptly to control the situation, assemble the necessary resources, and begin restoring university operations. This included the restoration of over 3,000 boxes of student records and staff documents, furniture, and computer and electronic equipment. Within 7 months, the building was reconstructed and fully operational.

Every situation is unique. Our team members have the training, experience, and compassion needed to evaluate and address your damage. They also have the technical knowledge and state-of-the-art equipment to clean, disinfect and recover fire-damaged furniture, electronics, clothing, photos, documents and other damaged items.

Whether you’re a homeowner or a business, it is our mission to restore your peace of mind.
