Helping in Slave Lake
On Sunday May 15, southeasterly winds of up to 80 km/h fueled fires that caught the town of Slave Lake, Alberta by surprise. Almost 7,000 residents were evacuated and reports say that fires have destroyed over 40% of the town, including the town hall, library, local radio station, and many homes and businesses.
In keeping with our mission to deliver rapid and superior disaster restoration services to Canadians in times of emergency, our FirstOnSite CAT Teams are currently on the ground in Slave Lake. We have set up a Command Center just outside of town and that will act as a base camp, complete with 10 acres of land, power, running water and wireless internet all of which we will make available.
We have been actively mobilizing our resources and we are sending additional manpower, equipment, supplies and vehicles to the area as needed – further extending our ability to help insurers and property owners alike.
Our National CAT Operations Chief, Billy Short is in Slave Lake, and our crews are working closely with local authorities in town, readying for work to begin.
Please join us in sending good thoughts to the citizens of Slave Lake.

Hi,
I recently spoke to an Alberta Works employee and she informed me that your company is currently looking for people to work in Slave Lake. I currently live in Alberta and my father lives in Nova Scotia so I am trying to get as much information as possible for him. He is looking to move out here in the near future. How.where would he apply? As of now work with camp accomodations would be the best for him. Please contact me with any information. Thank you.
